This is a good beginner’s Brioche project. Learn to work the brioche stitch in two colours and focus on the brioche technique.

There is no shaping within the brioche knitting. The shaping happens after the brioche rounds are complete and the bulk of the shaping is in one round, the rest of the drecreases worked into the bullseye crown.

The yarns used in this hat are a #polypay ragg yarn from @longwayhomestead that paired so well with the dark chocolate #homegrown CVM/ Romeldale from @westcoastcolour that I just had to play around a little.

After a few swatches I settled on a two colour brioche and garter stitch hat that, with careful weaving in of the ends, is now completely reversible.

Materials: 90 (100, 120, 140) meters Main colour and 60 (70, 80, 95) meters contrasting colour; 3.75mm US#4 16 inch circs and dpn’s; marker and the regular notions. Sample was knit with Long Way Homestead Polypay Ragg and West Coast Colour Homegrown in deep brown.

Sizes: X-small (child), Small, Medium and Large – shown in size medium.

Gauge: 16 sts in 4inches in brioche st, slightly stretched; 26 sts in 4inches in 1x1 rib; both worked in the round on 3.75mm needles.
