Bugs, Bugs, Bugs
As a mother of a little boy, I often feel guilty at the toy boxes full of girly toys that my son has gotten from my knitting pile. It’s not that the dolls and rabbits in dresses go unappreciated, but I was really starting to feel that I should come up a pattern that is more suitable for the toddler boy scene. I quickly came up with the idea of bugs-- not just one bug, but a pattern for the different segments of a bug that can be mixed and matched to make several different little critters. The bugs are knitted on US size 3 double pointed needles in the round on worsted weight wool. I used Cascade 220 wool. Make whatever segments you need to create a caterpillar, ant, bee, butterfly, or a bug of your (or your child’s) creation. The bugs range in size depending on what you want to make, but here are the measurements of the ones pictured:
Flying bug: 4 inches tall
Caterpillar: 3 inches tall, 5 inches long
Bee: 5 inches tall
