As fall holidays approach, traveling is inevitable — whether that means going back home to see the family or simply returning from yet another trip to the grocery store! Make sure you have the cozy essentials like the tartan stitch headband and mitts to take care of yourself.
Size: One size.
Size can be easily adapted using different needles and/or yarn
Skill level: Intermediate.
Gauge: 25 sts and 50 rows= 4″0 cm] in Tartan Slip Stitch pattern.
Measured after washing and light blocking.
Yarn: Garnstudio DROPS Alpaca: 3620 Red (MC), 1 ball; 8903 Black (CC), 1 ball.
Notions: Tapestry needle; eight ½” square buttons for Mitts (optional); two ¾” square buttons for Headband (optional).
Mitts are worked flat and sideways, then closed in the round working a joining i-cord or a simple seam.
Four small square buttons are used for decorative purpose.
The thumb gusset is worked with the black color only and is shaped using short rows.
The matching headband is worked sideways and closed with a joining i-cord or a seam.
Stitches are then picked up along the selvedge and a simple lining is worked in MC only to add a layer of warmth and to protect the WS floats.
Two square buttons, matching the ones used for the mitts, but slightly bigger are used for decorative purpose.
To obtain smaller or bigger headband and mitts, it’s possible to change yarn and/or needle size.
