Bru
This simple shawl is knit from the top down. Beginning with garter stitch, the shawl increases with yarn overs, merging halfway into the ‘bubbly’ zig-zag lace, and is finished with a short band of garter stitch.
Inspiration: Only in Scotland (and Glasgow in particular) can we shamelessly enjoy a beverage which is banned in several countries due to it’s sheer degree of unhealthiness. Perhaps this drink inspired the call of “Where’s yer ginger bit?” - which, incidentally, would probably offend if uttered elsewhere.
One size, this shawlette spans approx. 1.5 metres.
NOTE: edge can be either stockinette or garter. If garter would be preferred, replace edge purls with knits.
Any 4ply or DK weight can be used for this project, why not base it on your favourite fizzy thing? Two skeins will suffice (~260-300 yards).
Errata: Written instructions for chart purl rows should read “k2, yo, purl to last 2sts, yo, k2” rather than directing numbers.
