Brioche Tweed
One easy, fun, comfy, cozy, trendy, unisex, warm and grateful fall / winter / early spring beanie.
A simply brioche motive “weaves” zig zag (like tweed) texture and snowflake crown. For this prototype I used shades of gray, but you can choose your favorite, cheerful color combination.
You need:
1. Skills: basic brioche- knitting knowledge, knitting in the round,
2. Needles:
* 16” (40cm) circular needle (for hats) or 4+1 DPN’s, in US 4 / 3,5mm (for brim) and US 7 / 4,5mm;
* US 7 / 4,5mm DPN’s (4+1 double pointed needles) for crown;
* tapestry needle for weaving in ends;
3. Yarns - shown beanie is made with budget friendly yarns, in total weight ~ 50gr:
a) MC (main color, on front side) approx. 30gr of Ice yarns Master alpaca (175m~190 yds/50gr) in light gray (MC yarn is thicker then CC yarn); you can use any DK weight yarn;
b) CC (contrast color, on back side) approx. 20gr of Nako Angora elite trend, self striped with long color, in shades of gray (moher, 490m~530yds/100gr); you can use also some DK weight yarn;
4. 1 stitch marker.
SIZE – one size - oversized (slouchy); I gave instructions for standard beanie, too; this is very elastic pattern;
depth – 28,75cm/11½”,
circumference (around the brim) - minimum 52,5cm/21”,
