Brio basket cowl
This 3 (or 2) color brioche cowl / neck warmer pattern has interesting basketweave texture and makes a set with “Brio basket hat”, previously published pattern. It’s a quick project, warm, reversible, unisex winter accessories, nice gift.
You have a “stitch by stitch” written instruction in English and some links to video tutorials.
This cowl is knitted in the round, from the bottom up.
You need:
1. Required knowledge and skills: basic / advanced level of 2 color brioche knitting in the round;
2. Needles:
* 16” (40cm) circular needle (for hat) in US 7/4,5mm;
* tapestry needle(s) for weaving in ends;
3. Yarn: shown cowl is made in a combination of quality, budget-friendly, machine washing yarns, with approx.:
A. MC - Main Color yarn – “Alize Superlana Midi”, aran/heavy worsted in almond beige (152), ~121m/132,33yds (0,71 ball in total or 71gr). One ball has 100gr/170mt ~186yds.
B. CC1 - Contrast Color 1 (self striping) yarn – “Alize Burcum Batik”, DK/Light worsted, color 4827, ~95m/103,5yds (0,45 of 1 ball or 45gr). One ball has 100gr/210mt ~230yds.
C. CC2 – Contrast Color 2 “Alize Superlana Midi”, aran/heavy worsted in bordeaux (57), ~46m/50,3yds or 27gr. One ball has 100gr/170mt ~186yds.
Notice this: You can use only one type of CC yarn in total length, DK/Light worsted or aran yarn.
4. One stitch marker;
Dimensions (flat, fixed):
height – 30cm/12”;
circumference – 70cm/28” (1”=2.5cm)
Gauge (US 7 / 4.5mm needles): in fixed brioche stitches: 14 sts/20 rows = 4”x4” = 10x10cm
