Brighton Baby Blankie
I think I may have a bit of (grand)baby fever. I have never made a baby blanket pattern before. But I was really excited to try the C2C stitch, and got inspired!
If you already know the C2C stitch, you are one step ahead! I have included written instructions for the stitch, and there are many wonderful photo tutorials on the web if you need extra help :)
I feel that a beginner can accomplish this blanket, as the stitch is super easy to work once you get going!
I used worsted weight and an I hook. I know it’s not the softest baby yarn, and if you are using baby yarn - you may want to increase your hook size or the number of increase rows you do. Just make sure you will end up with a total stitch count around of a multiple of 4. (you can see the edging directions for stitch counts in the pattern)
Materials:
Worsted Weight yarn -I used Red Heart Super Saver & With Love, Crafter’s Secret and I Love This Yarn
I hook, or size needed to obtain gauge
Gauge: 4 dc sts, 2 dc rows = 1”
Finished Blanket size was approximately 28” square
You can always increase your hook size for a larger blankie :)
KEY:
ch - Chain
sk- skip
st - stitch
sp - space
sc - Single Crochet
hdc - Half Double Crochet
dc - Double Crochet
FO - Finish Off
Please note that the photos are prototypes, and are not worked according to the final published pattern. The purple one was my very first, a doll blanket with less rows. The blue one has a different corner than the final pattern. But they are basically the same, and nice samples of color combos :)
