The Breast Cancer Ribbin’ Scarf features cabled ribbon motifs at the two ends with a stretchy, lofty 2 X 2 ribbed section in-between.

The pattern has been written to be worked in one piece.*

I designed the Breast Cancer Ribbin’ Scarf in memory of my mother, who passed away from breast cancer on March 10, 1997, as well as for all the strong women in my life (including my Aunt Judy and Aunt Janet) who have undergone their own struggles with breast cancer.

However, if you want to knit the scarf in two halves, the pattern also provides instructions for working from the bottom up in two halves and then grafting together those two halves using Kitchener stitch. But don’t panic! Detailed instructions are provided for the two most effective methods of grafting in 2 X 2 ribbed stitch, as well as close-up photos of the results. Both methods result in nearly undetectable grafts (See the last photo for a close-up of the graft at the fold of the scarf).
