Branching Leaves Brioche Cowl
For anyone who loves a playful use of colour.
The pattern is a modification of the “Wavy buds” pattern in two color brioche but it has been knitted with the decreases used for knitting brioche stitch in the round resulting in a more continuous line of leaves and branches. Hence the name “Branching leaves”. I particularly like the way the meandering lines have turned out.
The cowl is knitted in the smallest size which is 50 cm and is modeled on someone who takes women’s small clothing size. Other sizes can be made by casting on a larger number of stitches. The pattern repeat is over six stitches.
Gauge: 18 stitches in 10 cm (4 inches) using 3.75 mm needles (US 5) in pattern stitch before blocking.
21 stitches and 28 rows are 10 cm (4 inches) in stocking stitch using 4 mm (US 6)
needles before blocking.
Needles: 3.75 mm (US size 5) circular needle max. 40 cm long for the smallest size.
Larger size needle for casting off.
Tapestry needle
