This unisex sweater is knit from the bottom hem up to the underarms in the round. The sleeves are then worked in the round as well up to the underarms, and then joined to the body. The upper body is shaped with raglan sleeves, and has a front Henley placket. It is worked with two simple textured stitch and cable patterns to represent the leather and metal armor worn by Viking warriors.

Sample is knit using a DK-weight wool/cotton blend. If substituting yarns, choose one without halo to help show the stitch pattern off to greatest advantage. You will need 11 (12, 13, 15, 18, 20, 22) balls to knit pattern as written. Sample is knit in size 41 ½” (105.5 cm) with 2 ½” of positive ease.

Inspiration: Bodolf is loosely translated from Norwegian as “wolf leader”. Wolves feature prominently in Norse mythology, particularly Geri and Freki, the two wolves who accompany Odin on his travels. Many historical images show warriors wearing wolf pelts, and there are many wolf-related names scattered throughout Norse tales of bravery in battle, as representatives of a powerful warrior class.
