A friend who raises alpaca asked me to design and knit a sweater from her custom-spun yarn. That night, I had a dream about this design. Elements of that sweater were used in my Master Knitter Level 2 Vest. This new version is close-fitting, well-suited to the flexibility of the fabric created by this interesting stitch pattern. The pointed details on the ribbings are achieved by means of short rows. This sweater looks best when the top of the ribbing sits at the waist.

This stitch pattern has a lot of flexibility, so it is safe to make it to body measurement.

The yarn requirements are generous.

It is useful to know the gauge for the 1x1 ribbing (unstretched) 36 sts/4”.
Important Gauge Memo: The pattern in the magazine doesn’t state the un-blocked gauge in stitch pattern: 32 sts/36 R=4”. The gauge in the pattern is blocked gauge, but due to the nature of the stitch pattern, the unblocked gauge is more useful.

The yardage translates to 6(7,8,9) balls of yarn.
