Inspired by the electric energy of gaming arcades, Bitstream is a playful mosaic-knit scarf featuring vivid pops of color set against a sleek black background. The rhythmic zigzag motif echoes pixelated light trails and retro arcade floor patterns.

This rectangular scarf is worked from one short edge to the other, making it easy to customize. Adjust the number of repeats to create anything from a slim scarf to a generous wrap—the final size is up to your yarn and your vision.

The pattern uses two colors: a solid black main color (MC) and a vibrant multicolor or variegated contrast color (CC). Only one color is worked at a time, using simple slipped stitches to achieve striking colorwork without the fuss of stranded knitting. Instructions are provided in both written and charted form.

YARN: Baah Yarn La Jolla (100% SW Merino, 400 yd /115g)

• Main Color (MC) - Black Pearl

Or any similar fingering weight yarn in 2 contrasting colors

NEEDLES: US #5 / 3.75 mm circular needles (or as required to get the gauge)

NOTIONS: stitch markers, darning needle.

GAUGE: 28 sts x 32 rows = 4” in pattern. Gauge is not crucial for this project, but it will affect the yardage and finished size if different from above.

SIZE: custom, sample shown -length 94”, width 8.5”(after wet blocking).

compact (2 pages, 12 pt)

large print (5 pages, 20 pt), the version with big letters for those who use portable devices like tablets and e-readers; also for those knitters who have difficulties reading small font on paper.
