Big Thompson Scarf
This scarf is one step up from the basic garter stitch starter scarf: easy shaping gives the scarf its modern slant, and simple eyelets add grace (and an easy way to mark your progress)!
Arisoa is a yummy scrumptious yarn, but this pattern will also work really well with many weights and fibre types. I would recommend that you begin swatching with a needle one or two sizes larger than what the manufacturer recommends, and include a repeat of the eyelet section in your swatch. Evaluate it unblocked and blocked, decide if you’re in love with the fabric or not, and repeat with another needle size if necessary!
In a wispy yarn like Rowan’s KidSilk Haze, this would be a light-as-air confection - keep it short and chic! A mid-weight yarn with texture (Elsbeth Lavold’s Silky Wool, perhaps?) will make the unblocked fabric a really neat combination of crisp and sproingy. Staying in the chunky/bulky range keeps the scarf lush and luxurious - try bumping up your needle size and holding multiple strands of the same yarn together if you want a build-your-own-bulky-yarn version (I’ve done this with Cascade 220 and Ecological Wool on other projects, and it works well!)
