Knit a big, round, cuddly bumblebee to celebrate Spring! She even has a cozy bluebell flower to snuggle into on chilly nights. This pattern is a great introduction to toy making, with simple shapes, common stitches, and useful skills. The pattern includes instructions to knit all the pieces flat, or in the round. With such a fun and cheerful toy, you may need to knit more than one!

Materials: 50 g of black light-worsted weight yarn (B), 25 g of yellow light-worsted weight yarn (Y), 15 g of white light-worsted weight yarn (W), 50 g of blue light-worsted weight yarn, 3.75 mm (US size 5) circular needle about 60 cm (24”) long or a set of 4 double-pointed needles (dpns), polyester stuffing, pair of 12-15 mm safety eyes, scrap yarn or row markers, tapestry needle, large darning needle (for antennae)
Gauge: 6 sts and 8.5 rows per 2.5 cm (1”) in stockinette stitch
Size: 37 cm (14½“) around, 12 cm (4¾”) tall

The sample toys were made with Knit Picks Swish Worsted in Cobblestone, Honey, and White, with Serene for bluebell. I find this yarn requires a smaller needle to get a gauge dense enough for toys. If you’re using a thicker worsted weight yarn, you may want to go up a needle size.
