Bergitte
I love this flowery yoke so much. I made three. The cropped, boxy fit and 3/4 length sleeves make Bergitte perfect for spring or cool summer evenings. It’s a super quick knit. Also includes instructions for a short-sleeve summer top knit with cotton.
Knit bottom up with one size needle (in a 32-inch circular and Flexiflips for the sleeves). I knit Bergitte with a 4mm, but please swatch to find the perfect needle for you to get gauge. Knit with Brooklyn Tweed Shelter 5(5,6,7,7,8,9) skeins of Camper and 1 (1,1,1,1,12) skeins of Tallow, knit at 4.5 stitches per inch. I love bottom up construction because I like to knit wherever I can (or knit and walk) and doing the sleeves separately, unattached to the body is super fast and portable. Next you will join the sleeves to the body, knit the yoke, cast off, graft armholes and wear immediately. It’s slick and quick. I also like bottom-up construction, because I am so excited to get to the colorwork, that I knit as fast as I can to get to it. This sweater can easily be knit over a weekend (or in a day for speedy knitters). Included in this pattern is a recipe for rhubarb compote .
Happy knitting, everyone!
