Basic Stitchy Body
This is definitely the biggest body in this book, and I designed it to use less than 50 yards of two colors, rather than one color like many of the other patterns. I knit the basic sample in one color so you could see how much yardage it would take in case you wanted to use only one color throughout.
I love this body and designed it with colorwork stitch patterns in mind. The body itself is very simple and has only one decrease round for the neck, so if you want to knit the body in a stitch pattern, you won’t have to figure out how to add or subtract stitches for your pattern. You can think of the body as a kind of blank canvas, just waiting for a stitch pattern to be added.
This pattern starts out knit flat to create the base, then stitches are picked up around the base to create the body. Though it calls for a circular needle for knitting in the round, remember that knitting in the round doesn’t start until after the flat base has been created.
