Banana Basket Block
This not-your-usual afghan block is based off the old “Trefoil” block pattern. I couldn’t find any additional information on it online, though. The original pattern had a border of bobbles competing for attention with the “bananas”, so I omitted the bobbles.
I recommend slightly larger and longer needles than usual, given the amount of increasing stitches and the sheer number of stitches the “bananas” require. Banana Basket Block is not very difficult to knit; there are just a lot of stitches to work in the banana section.
Banana Basket Block is 11 inches square at gauge.
Skills needed: cast on, slip, knit, purl, YO, kf&b, k2tog, SSK and SK2P.
Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.
250 yards of Knit Pick’s CotLin yarn will make one 11” square block at gauge.
