“With this design, I wanted to create a garment that will give knitters an enjoyable challenge,” says Mary Henderson. “The body of the cardigan has bands of Fair Isle motifs with a central zigzag section. The sleeves are a solid colour to frame the body, with simple motifs around the cuffs, and the corrugated garter rib echoes the motif repeat. Instead of buttonholes, I have used buttons on top of snap fastenings – the advantage of this is the garment can be tried on then the decision about where the fastenings suit you best can be made!”
