Bagatelle Cowl
The thrill of walking down a buzzing seaside pier is the inspiration behind Kettle Yarn Co.’s new The Boardwalk Collection in the new luminous hues of ISLINGTON DK.
Featuring six vibrant designs from Renée Callahan, Rachel C. Brown, Rachel Coopey, Isabell Kraemer, Maria Magnusson and Linda Lencovic, the collection spans summer to autumn with heirloom items you’ll love all year!
Sample shown knit in Islington DK Peony
Named for a traditional game often seen on seaside boardwalks, this striking lace cowl takes full advantage of Kettle Yarn Co.’s sumptuous Islington DK yarn to create the perfect accessory for any time of the year. Worn long and loose in warmer weather, the travelling lace panel provides an elegant counterpoint to the stockinette body, while colder winds can inspire a looped style for extra warmth and coziness. The Bluefaced Leicester wool gives warmth and elasticity, while the silk content of the yarn provides extra drape and shine.
Knit in the round, the cowl begins with a seed stitch border, then transitions to a lace and stockinette body. The lace panel travels to the left as the cowl grows, utilising increases and decreases at each edge of the lace panel. Once the desired depth is reached, the seed stitch border is repeated, making a beautifully symmetrical piece.
