The Baby Dragonflower Hat is a quick to make project to help you stay safe in the sun! Made with 100% cotton it keeps you cool whilst the flexible brim shades your eyes and protects your ears and neck from the sun.

Method:
This no-sew hat is constructed by crocheting together a flat hexagon and six Baby Dragonflower squares, the brim is worked in the round and crocheted directly onto the bottom of the squares. The pattern contains 2 pdfs, one with written round by round instructions, photos, a chart for the Baby Dragonflower Square, and photo tutorials for all special stitches used. The second pdf The Zipper Join Method contains a photo tutorial for this technique.

Size:
One size fits most, shown on a mannequin with a head circumference of 21½” (54.5 cm), actual hat circumference 23½” (60 cm).
Designed to be worn with positive ease, due to the drape of the hat it doesn’t feel baggy on a smaller head, the brim just sits a little lower.

Yarn:
This pattern was designed with Cygnet 100% Cotton DK. I chose this because the cotton is cool, breathable, and has a lovely drape to it, but you can use any yarn you wish as long as you can match gauge.
The amounts of each color required will depend on how many colors you pick and where you choose to use them. As a guide for the hat pictured, I used the following:

Color A – 2156 Vanilla approx. 7 metres (7⅔ yards)
Color B – 2209 Ketchup approx. 7 metres (7⅔ yards)
Color C – 5506 Orange Soda approx. 7 metres (7⅔ yards)
Color D – 3184 Golden approx. 7 metres (7⅔ yards)
Color E –5331 Lagoon approx. 80 metres (87 yards)
Color F – 4233 Smokey Purple approx. 135 metres (148 yards)

Gauge:
A completed Baby Dragonflower square measures 3¾“ (9.5 cm)
