While I wanted a comfortable easy-care dress to take along on a summer cruise, I couldn’t find an existing knitting pattern for the baby-doll dress I envisioned. So indulging my fondness for natural fibers, textured stitches, and knitting in the round, I whipped up Baby Corn. Using gathers below the bustline, I created a figure-flattering skirt with an adjustable I-cord tie that could accommodate cruise-buffet indulgences. I played around with several complicated stitch patterns for the bodice, before settling on the wrapped rib - I love its unusual texture. Finally, I chose 100% corn yarn to make Baby Corn cool, easy-care, and ecofriendly.
