I wanted a baby cardigan in super warm slip stitch fabric and to play with colour. The Ballet Wrap seemed ideally suited to preemie babies in particular, for the easy fastening and extra warmth.

The cardigan is worked bottom-up in one piece to the armholes, then fronts and back are worked separately. Shoulders are joined with a three needle bind off/cast off. Sleeves are picked up from the armholes and worked down to the cuffs in the round. The border for fronts and back is worked last. Buttons are added for both fronts to fasten inside and out for the wrapover element.
