Here’s a pattern I am happy to share with you to greet the year that is ending and celebrate the beginning of the new one. Auld Lang Syne is a popular song often heard on New Year’s Eve.

This is a song from Scotland passed down from generation to generation and transcribed in 1788 by Robert Burns.


SIZE - Adulte one size (Foot length is adjustable)

IN ADDITION TO THE FREE SOCK PATTERN, YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING MATERIALS TO KNIT THESE SOCKS (Also available as a kit with yarn and pattern HERE) :

Louise Robert Collection SUPER SOCK 75% merino sw, 25% nylon, 400 m /100g skein

  • 100g in color MOUTON NOIR (A)
  • 50g in color KLIMT (B)
  • 50g in color METAL (C)

NEEDLES & NOTIONS

Circular or double-pointed needles of 2.5 mm (or size needed to obtain gauge) and of 2.75 mm (ou .25 mm larger than the required size to obtain gauge)
1 tapestry needle

GAUGE - 32 sts = 10 cm in stockinette stitch with 2.5mm needles

Notes : These socks are worked in stranded colorwork with color A as the main color. The contrasting color changes repeatedly: 12 rounds with B and 12 rounds with C. Feel free to cut the unused color and join it back 12 rounds higher or carry it on the wrong side and tuck it under color A.

This pattern can be worked with 5 DPN’s or with circular needles. If you use DPN’s, please distribute half of the stitches on needles 1 and 2 and the other half of the stitches on needles 3 and 4.
