A pretty little shawl that begins with leaves followed by a lovely lace pattern that is like flowers budding among the leaves. This is a top down shawl with the increases incorporated in the lace pattern that form an interesting crescent shape. The english meaning of Avrille is “opening buds of spring” making it the perfect name for this shawl that has flowers budding through the leaves.

Yarn: Mrs. Crosby Reticule, 100% superwash merino wool; 840 yds per 100g skein; color: Midnight Aubergine; 1 skein, sample used 647 yds.
Needles: Size US 2/2.75mm, 24” (or longer) circular needle.
Other: Stitch markers, tapestry needle, pins and mat for blocking.
Gauge: 30 sts and 42 rows = 4” in Stockinette stitch, unblocked. Gauge is not critical.

This shawlette is constructed from the top down. The increases create a crescent shape. The sample was made with a lace weight yarn. A fingering or sport weight yarn may be substituted resulting in a larger shawl. Adjust needle size accordingly.
