Graphic herringbone stripes strike a bold note, and are completely addictive to knit! Worked flat and on the bias, this worsted-weight cowl and scarf are the perfect project to dig deep into your stash and explore colour!
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner/Intermediate. Techniques for cowl include: provisional cast-on, knit stitch, decreases, picking up stitches, weaving in ends as you go, and Three Needle Bind Off. Techniques for scarf include: backward loop cast on, knit stitch, decreases, picking up stitches and weaving in ends as you go.
Size: Cowl: 9.75” wide x 60” circumference; Scarf: 9.75” wide x 75” long.
Yarn: KnitPicks Wool of the Andes Worsted Weight (100% Highland Peruvian Wool, 110 yds per 50g ball).
Approximate yarn requirements:
Cowl: 746 yards. Sample shown uses 8 colours for a 9 stripe repeat: 168 yards of White (20645); 84 yards each of Garnet Heather (25633), Cranberry (23425), Rose Heather (29845), Blossom Heather (25067), Pumpkin (23430), Brass Heather (25638), and Amber Heather (23893).
Scarf: 900 yards. Sample shown uses 9 colours for a 9 stripe repeat: 100 yards each of Lava Heather (25637), Rooibos Heather (25642), Amber Heather (23893), Pumpkin (23430), Brass Heather (25638), Bamboo Heather (25991), Forest Heather (23897), Cilantro Heather (25635), and Mink Heather (24279).
