Please note: - yarn quantities provided are for my toppie. I made a size large with widened sleeves and cuffs added. I used 6 balls - DK 100g/300m (I used very little of the last ball).

Sizing:

  • The pattern provides adult sizes small to 3XL, however the squares are very easy to adapt for larger sizes or for a looser or tighter fitting toppie.
  • The toppie could be made for a kiddo by using finer yarn and a smaller hook.
  • Please refer to the sizing chart to establish your square size in relation to your garment before beginning.
  • When sizing your garment, don’t get too hung up on exact sizes, remember this is a loose fit so a cm here and there won’t make a huge difference on your overall garment size. Be careful with too many cm’s though, you don’t want to be wearing a potato sack when you’re done – LOL!
  • The garment is constructed with a ‘join-as-you-go’ method.
  • Sleeve seams, side seams and neckline are stitched.

Materials:

  • Any yarn of your choice - I used Elle Classic Wool, 20% wool/80% acrylic blend, DK (100g/300m).
  • Colour – Anthracite.
  • 5mm hook or hook compatible with yarn used.
  • Needle for sewing in ends and joining.
  • Stitch markers.
  • Measuring tape.

Yarn:

  • The pattern is suited to most yarn types but you may need to play around a bit to achieve the correct square size to correspond with your overall garment size.
  • Differing yarn thickness, hook size and tension will affect the size of your squares. Remember to factor this in when you are planning the size of your garment.
  • Yarn quantities are totally dependent on the size of the garment you make and also on sleeve width and length.
