Amish colors and stranded patterns give these socks a lift. Directions included to make shorter socks as well as knee socks. You will need smaller amounts (leftovers) of three or four colors as well as the main color (the amount of yardage indicated).

YARN Brown Sheep Nature Spun (100% wool, 184 yd 168 m/1¾ oz 50 g; sportweight); #730 Natural (MC), 3 skeins; #120 Cresting Wave (CC1), #103 Deep Sea (CC2), #720 Ash (CC3), and #N87 Victorian Pink (CC4), 1 skein each.

NEEDLES Size 2 (2.75 mm): set of 5 double-pointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

NOTIONS Stitch markers (m); tapestry needle.

GAUGE 7 sts and 9½ rows = 1” (2.5 cm) in St st.

FINISHED SIZE Foot circumference 8 (8½, 9¼)“ (20.5 21.5,23.5 cm); leg length 14” (35.5 cm) from top of leg to start of heel flap; foot length 9 (9¾, 10¼)” (23 25, 26 cm) from back of heel to tip of toe (adjustable); to fit women’s U.S. shoe sizes 6½–7½ (8–9, 9½–10½).
