Altair Shawl
Designed to showcase beautiful yarns, the Altair Shawl is a classic top down triangular shawl with a deep V-shape that is ideal for layering. A contrasting shade is used for the garter stitch ridges and the lower border.
The shawl is knitted from the top down in one piece, starting with a garter stitch tab. After set-up, this shawl shape is formed by increasing 4 sts on every right side row at the two outer edges and on either side of the central spine of the shawl.
To knit the Altair Shawl, you will need 2 x 100g skeins of Zakami fingering yarn in 2 shades.
The stitch pattern consists of a garter stitch ridge on a stocking stitch background which is repeated throughout the shawl until the border is reached. In the upper part of the shawl, the ridge is knitted with the contrast shade. The lower section and the border are knitted in the contrast shade. The border is knitted with a garter stitch rib pattern.
The main stitches used in the shawl are k (knit), p (purl) and m1 (make 1 stitch by working into the horizontal bar between stitches).
