Along the Way Shawl
Along the Way Shawl has colorful cables traveling over the whole piece, and garter stitch stripes creating a simple background for these cables. Made of two colors and a clever mosaic-like technique, this shawl is easier to knit than it looks like, as only one color is used on each row. Near the end, some rows incorporate an eyelet pattern to create an airy border. This triangular shawl is worked sideways, and is meant to be made with fingering weight yarn but is fully adaptable to accommodate your preferred yardage and weight.
Yarn
2 contrasting colors of fingering weight yarn
400 yards (366 m) of each color
Can be made with any weight from fingering to worsted but yardage and dimensions will vary.
Difficulty
Intermediate: cables, slip stitch, garter stitch, stripes. Knitting is simple but it requires some pattern reading skills.
