Almond Blossom Shawl
“Large branches against a vibrant blue sky, like the ones featured here in ‘Almond Blossom’, were one of Vincent van Gogh’s favourite subjects,” says designer Krista Ann. “He painted almond blossoms often, but he created this particular painting as a gift for his newborn nephew, and it nods to the innocence and softness of nature.
“I designed this shawl using silk because it knits up into a wonderfully delicate and light fabric that offers a breezy weightlessness as it drapes over the shoulders. The curves of the fabric mimic the light and airy petals moving with the wind. I pulled in the captivating teals and gold colours we see in the sky and on the branches, along with the soft white representing the silky petals of the spring blooms.”
