Alam is a bottom up - in the round - cowl worked in the classic old shale stitch. A rustic cable plyed yarn is used to really give Alam a truly classic feel. The old shale stitch is worked with a set of decreases and increases for a rippled lace stitch that helps show off handspun yarn while not overcomplicating it. This cowl can be worked in any weight of yarn and with any yardage really, it just take a little patience and math! This is also quite the quick knit - just a few hours and you’re finished! Great for last minute gifting!

Pattern Notes:
 Cowl is worked in the round from the bottom up. The old shale stitch gives the cowl a light and airy feel while not compromising a whole lot on structure. Yarn used is a Cable Ply (4 ply) of three distinct rustic fibers; Jacob, BFL, and Coopworth.
