Alabama is a shawl that combines knitting and crochet. Jersey and double crochet, the perfect mix to get started with knitting and crochet and have fun!

We begin by knitting the central section in stockinette stitch with openwork rows, a series of increases, and short rows. You can end the shawl at this stage or finish with a crochet section. For the crochet section, we pick up stitches to work in double crochet.

SIZES:
Knitting section only 60 X 16.5 inches / 152 X 42 cm.
Knitting and crochet section 72.5 X 23 inches / 184 X 58 cm (adaptable)

GAUGE: 21 sts x 30 rows for 4 x 4’’ or 10 x 10 cm in garter st with 4 mm/US 6.

YARN: this shawl is knitted with two strands of fingering and lace weight yarn.
Knitting section: approximately 440 yards / 400 m of each yarn.
Crochet section: approximately 330 yards / 300 m of each yarn. Adaptable to the desired length.

NOTIONS: needles sizes 4 mm/US 6, hook n° 4/US G, tapestry needle, cable to hold live stitches and 4 stitches markers removables.

NOTES: the pattern is knitted in MSW (100 % merino SW – 100 g = 400 m) and KMS (kid mohair soie – 50 g = 420 m) from Yarn By Simone color Summertimes sadness.

Bonus:
The crochet section can be used to use up leftover yarn, play with colors (stripes or gradients), or stick with a solid version.
You can also add fringes to accentuate a folk style.

Alabama est un châle qui allie le tricot et le crochet. Du jersey et des brides, le parfait mélange pour débuter au tricot et au crochet et s’amuser !
On commence par tricoter la partie centrale en jersey avec des lignes de jours, un un jeu de d’augmentations et des rangs raccourcis. Il est possible d’arrêter le châle à cette étape ou de finir par une partie crochet. Pour la section crochet, on relève des mailles pour crocheter tout en brides.

TAILLES :
Partie tricot seule 152 X 42 cm. Partie tricot et crochet 184 X 58 cm (adaptable)

ECHANTILLON : 21 m x 30 rgs pour 10 x 10 cm en jersey.

LAINES : le modèle se tricote avec deux fils tenus ensemble : un fil de type fingering et un fil de type lace.
Partie tricot : environ 400 m de chaque fil.
Partie crochet : environ 300 m de chaque fil. Adaptable selon la longueur souhaitée.

MATERIELS : aiguilles circulaires suggérées 4 mm, un crochet 4 mm, une aiguille à laine et 2 marqueurs.
