Adele
This is a lightweight and versatile layering piece made from one easy square motif, repeated and joined seamlessly as you go. Its simple rectangular shape allows it to be worn two ways: as a relaxed-fit summer top, or as a minimalist open cardigan with the neck opening shifted to the back, forming a soft slit detail.
All motifs are joined during the final round—no seaming required—making this a satisfying and beginner-friendly project. Once the body is complete, the rectangle is folded, and pairs of squares are joined along the sides, leaving openings for armholes. A few rounds are added to polish the edges.
This is a great pattern for using up leftover yarn and works well in DK weight cotton or cotton-blend yarns. The flowy drape, breathable texture, and airy stitchwork make it ideal for summer.
