Acorn pincushion
This big acorn makes a handy pincushion, or use them to decorate your home. Use a combination of knits and purls to make the textured brown cup, and stockinette for the green top. Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, the acorn is knitted in acrylic DK yarns on single pointed needles (not in the round), and the stalk is an i-cord tube worked on two DPNs.
NEEDLES
A pair each of 3.5mm single pointed knitting needles and DPNs (US 4)
RECOMMENDED YARN
Sirdar Hayfield Bonus DK; double knitting/light worsted weight; 100% acrylic; a few grammes each of brown and green yarns
NOTIONS
Tapestry needle and toy filling
SIZES
One size only - 9cm tall.
TECHNIQUES
For beginners and above, other techniques used include casting on and off, knits, purls, increases and decreases, and seaming to finish.
