This scarf was designed to accompany a class about knitting parallelogram shapes. Here, two parallelograms are stacked one on top of the other, with the colour, stitch pattern and slope of the sides all changing at the mid-way point.

The pattern is available on Ravelry for individual purchase, but knitters enrolled in my “Playing with Parallelograms” class receive the pattern for free with their class handout. The next opportunity to take this class is on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 3:00 pm (Pacific)--a virtual class hosted by Hands On Knitting Center .

The techniques you will need to know, or learn, to complete this project are:

  • cast on and bind off;
  • knit and purl;
  • M1L and M1R increases;
  • yo increase;
  • ssk and k2tog decreases;
  • cdd double decrease.

Aberdeen was named in 1879 by mill owner, James Crawford, after his birthplace in Scotland. By 1881, village businesses included a blacksmith shop, a post office, a spinning wheel maker, a weaver and a cooper shop.
Currently, the village of historical homes is part of the Municipality of West Grey in Grey County, Ontario.
