ABC cube
Crochet baby cube pattern pdf made up of ABC letter squares and Apple, Bell and Car colour motifs.
Cute soft toy block is a quick and easy gift for children or new mums – great for a baby shower!
Beginner-friendly intarsia project includes UK & US crochet terms and is an instant digital download.
KEY FEATURES:
• DIY educational stuffed cube is great for helping kids to learn the alphabet, phonics and more.
• Stackable handmade activity block is a wonderful personalised present for a new mum or a toddler – and much easier than amigurumi!
• Great first colourwork project! I’ll explain how to use intarsia or Fair Isle techniques to work each motif from a simple chart using single crochet (US) or double crochet (UK). Plus there are quick tutorials on how to change colour mid-row, work intarsia and use whipstitch to seam the squares.
• You need small amounts of 4ply yarn so it’s a great stashbuster project! Choose colours you like to customise the finish (I used green and grey). I used West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4ply (75% wool, 25% nylon, 100g/400m), 1 ball each of Yarn A Poppy Grey (600), Yarn B Sour Apple (390).
• Finished cube measures 13.5cm (5.5in) – small/medium size is quick to make and perfect for a baby to play with for years!
MORE INFORMATION:
• A4 digital pdf download pattern is available instantly, forever, and is easy to print.
• English pattern is given in UK crochet terms first and then US crochet terms, so you only need to read the section that’s relevant to you.
• You’ll also need a 3mm (US C/2) hook and some toy stuffing.
• Pattern support is available from the designer if you need it – feel free to ask me questions!
Designer Becky Skuse says: “With this design, I loved the idea of using crochet to create a cute cube for a baby or toddler, featuring the letters A, B and C, with pictures that go with each letter: Apple, Bell and Car. The cube is surprisingly easy to make, or you could combine the squares into a blanket instead. Alternatively, use the squares as coasters or hook one in a superchunky yarn to make a really big square that would look lovely in any nursery. When making up, you could add a bell to the centre of the stuffing to make the cube a stimulating treat for baby’s ears as well as their eyes and hands!”
