A Houndstooth Wrap About Town
Optional CLosure:** Do NOT cut yarn. Place long Band into the Keyhole Band and fold to the back. Whipstitch the bind off row to the Second Decrease Row. This gives a permanent closure, but it looks great. This is an optional closing, if you prefer. (See last 6 photos)
I discovered another way to close this wrap that I really think is great, so here it is.
This Wrap appeals to both sides of me--the traditional/classic side and the quirky/different/unique side.
I have taken a traditional, well loved pattern stitch (houndstooth) and given it a unique twist with the construction of this Wrap.
It starts with a provisional cast on to produce a keyhole for the other end of the Wrap to go into. Color-stranding or fair isle makes up the body with short rows being worked along the inside right edge. This produces a shorter edge along the shoulders of the wearer. And it finishes with the long ribbed end that fits into the keyhole for a perfectly divine Wrap About Town.

Vintage Chunky by Berroco 50% acrylic, 40% wool, 10% nylon; 130 yards/120 meters per 100 gram skein;
MC Cast Iron, color #6145; 4(4, 4, 5, 5) skeins
CC Snow Day, color #6100; 2( 2, 2, 3, 3) skeins
(Please make sure that yarn is colorfast)
Recommended needle sizes
US #7/4.5 mm straight needles AND US #10.5/6.5 mm straight needles
Notions
Separate smaller size needle to use when transferring stitches of
provisional cast on
Small amount of waste yarn for provisional cast on
Safety pin or removable marker to mark wrapped stitch on short rows
Yarn needle (for weaving in yarn ends)

With larger size needles, in Houndstooth Pattern, 17 sts and 17 rows = 4 inches
