From the pattern:

Three-piece child’s outfit: Aran pattern pullover with raglan sleeves and rib polo collar; pants with elastic waist, rib cuff and matching tam with pompom.

For some reason, the tam is knit in 4 separate pieces and then seamed. However, when carefully sewn, the finished tam is lovely.
