#14 Car Coat
When I design, inspiration usually comes from the yarn first. Patons’ Classic Wool Roving loves to show off rich textures, and I knew I wanted to incorporate a variety of stitchwork—basket stitch, seed stitch, cables—in this coat. I kept the vertical cables long and fluid for a flattering silhouette with some side shaping. For design harmony, the simple seed-stitch textured bands complement the seed-stitch sections of the cable panels. — Gayle Bunn
Bunn’s elegant interpretation of the traditional Aran style puts the cherry on top of this lovely design, a sink-into-me raglan car coat worked with Patons’ “Classic Wool Roving” in a cheerful lipstick red. Knit-in pockets carry continuations of the cabled columns; a ribbed collar frames the face while echoing the furrows of the cuffs and hemline.
