Pattern description from Knit Simple Magazine, Holiday 2006: “Warm and wintry, this afghan is a hybrid of crocheted snowflake medallions and knitted squares of garter-welt stitch. A crocheted perimeter is punctuated at each point with chunky tassels.”
Knit Tip: “Team up with a family member to make a true heirloom - one of you can take the knit blocks while the other crochets the medallions.”
Materials:
- 128 Chunky Solids by Cascade Yarns, 3½oz/100g balls, each approx 128yd/117m (wool)
- 20 balls in #8686 chocolate (A)
- 8 balls in #1130 red (B)
- 2 balls in #3438 maize (C)
- 1 ball in #8010 natural (D)
- One pair size 10½ (6.5mm) needles or size to obtain gauge
- Size L-11 (8mm) crochet hook
Additional Gauge: Blocked, crocheted square is 11”/28cm square using size L-11 (8mm) crochet hook
