#02 Reversible Cabled-Rib Shawl
Summary: A gorgeous shawl done in a reversible cabled-rib pattern. Pictured on pp. 2, 49 and 51 (1999 magazine), pattern & chart on p. 90 (1999 magazine).
Additional Size Information: Approx 22.5” (57 cm) wide by 72” (183 cm) long.
Additional Yarn Information: The original yarn used for the 1999 version is discontinued. Many knitters used Rowan Kidsilk Haze as a substitute. Six balls of KSH makes a decent-sized shawl, but it will not be as large as the shawl shown in the book or magazine.
Using Prism Kid Mohair to knit the shawl will give you the soft, hand dyed look featured in the top image.
Fall 2017 issue: Stacy Charles suggests substituting two strands of Imperial, a lush cashmere/silk/superfine merino blend available in 20 beautiful colors.
Additional Materials Needed: Cable needle, stitch markers.
Chart Included: Reversible cable rib chart (p. 90 in the magazine).
From the Pattern Description: Lily Chin’s reversible cabled-rib shawl is the ultimate indulgence in super-soft “Butterfly” by Filatura Di Crosa/Stacy Charles Collection.
Notes: Pattern also found in Vogue Knitting American Collection.
Notes: Titled as “Cabled Rib Shawl” in Vogue Knitting: Shawls & Wraps.
