♥ Dreaming of Wild Gardens
It will never rain roses: when we want to have more roses we must plant more trees.
- George Elliot
This is a pattern for a Fair-Isle kep style hat. It is worked in one piece and in the round. You begin with the lining for the hat, work a folded seam, and then work the outer hat. You push the lining inside, attach a tassel, and then you may wear as is or fold the hem for extra warmth!
The inside of the bees may be worked with duplicate st.
yarn:
2 Ply Jumper Weight by, Jamieson & Smith
Fingering; 100% Shetland; 125yds (115m)/25g
approximate yarn amounts:
MC/lining (1280 mix) - 62g (64g); 3 balls
CC1 (FC 38) -15g (17g); 1 ball
CC2 (28) - 18g (20g); 1 ball
CC3 (65 Acqua Green) - 27g (29g); 2 balls
CC4 (82 mix) - 21g (23g); 1 ball
needles:
2.75mm (us no 2) circular, 16in/41cm and DPNs 6in/15cm
3.25mm (us no 3) circular, 16in/41cm and DPNs 6in/15cm
gauge:
26 sts x 32 rnds = 4in/10cm over stranded stockinette on 3.25mm needles
24 sts x 38 rnds = 4in/10cm over stockinette on 2.75mm needles
Some knitters work stranded and one-coloured at different gauges. Change needles, as needed, to keep gauge the same throughout.
