Michele Bernstein

I design simple, elegant accessories that feature easy to remember patterns for a zen knitting experience. I love texture, especially brioche, lace, cables, and entrelac. I teach knitting in Portland Oregon, and at fiber festivals and retreats. I’m now teaching online via Zoom, all over the world. Thanks, pandemic!

I’m the author of Brioche Knit Love, 21 Skill Building Projects from Simple to Sublime, publication date October 19, 2021. Update: The book sold out, and my publisher has closed. So I’m now a self-publisher! You can find my book on Amazon.com in paperback and ebook, and also in paperback through For Yarn’s Sake, my LYS (not mine, just where I teach.)

I have an e-mail newsletter to share news and special offers for members. It comes out once or twice a month. Click here to sign up.

Come check out my blog! I write mostly about knitting, a good smattering of travel, and a little about piano and guitar and music. And food! I have several knitting technique tutorials on my blog, and am always adding more.

Between blog posts, I’m on Instagram; I’m PDXKnitterati there, too.

PDXKnitterati also has a facebook page; come be a fan!

I have a Ravelry group, but it’s pretty quiet these days. Instagram is where it’s at!

I also have patterns for sale via Payhip, LoveCrafts, and Knit Picks Independent Design Program. Ravelry is the most comprehensive collection; the others don’t have all my patterns.

I’m very pleased to have been the designer for the Rose City Yarn Crawl’s first ever Mystery Shawlette KAL! The 2014 KAL was great fun, ending with a group photo at the Yarn Ball.

I was recently featured on Stitchmastery’s blog about my design process using their fabulous sofware.

I recently had the pleasure of doing an Facebook Live Zoom chat with Knit Picks. You can see the video on YouTube!

Here’s a fun interview with me for Robin Hunter’s blog, How to Become a Professional Knitter. And another interview from Yarn Intercept’s blog, back in 2011.
