I am a designer, hand knit pattern writer and wool and yarn producer with over 40 years experience making hand knitwear.

I work from my knitting studio in Fife, which is in a beautiful steading on Comielaw Farm. Outside of the studio I enjoy travelling around the Scottish countryside, taking in the textures and colours that inform my work and researching the history and folklore that goes into each piece. I have a fabulous team working with me, including Sheila Greenwell, who helps develop patterns and our couture hand knitting pieces.

Together we are judges on the new and upcoming TV series Game of Wool!

Our yarns, Di Gilpin Lalland Lambswool, and Di Gilpin Bell Wether, are grown in Scotland and finished(balled) in Yorkshire. Lalland DK is a light weight DK…with a special double twist finished with a Z twist..which gives great stitch definition. It knits beautifully in Fair Isle, Gansey, Lace, Cable and has a great texture. Lalland Aran is a melange of colours to give a super blended colour palette. Bell Wether DK is a fabulous organic Scottish Merino spun by Laxtons in a glorious range of colours. It is super soft, light and a classic DK worked on 4mm needles.
