Woolly Sheep Mittens
I designed these fingerless mittens to accompany my Woolly Sheep Hat and Cowl patterns. They are worked in stocking/stockinette stitch with a garter stitch pattern for the cuffs, allowing the cuffs to be turned back or left longer. Once knitted, a sheep motif is Swiss darned/duplicate stitched to the back of the hand; however the motif could be added whilst knitting by using the intarsia method.
The mittens pictured are worked using a lovely soft wool silk mix yarn in DK/light worsted weight. The sheep motifs were added using a worsted weight yarn so that the mitten stitches were more easily covered during Swiss darning/duplicate stitching. The pattern covers sizes from child to adult and the instructions are written for knitting flat on two needles with a seam at the side.
