Vida Hat
Vida Hat:
What you will need:
• Yarn – 100g Fingering Yarn (approx. 365-400m / 400-440 yds) Yarn used in sample – Fybrespates Vivacious 4PLY – Colourway Tweed Imps (365m/400yards)
• Needles – 2.75mm and 3mm (US2 or 3) on a 16” cables for knitting in the round or a Long cable for magic loop, and DPN’s in the larger size for crown decreases (can also use magic loop method for crown decreases)
• Notions – Stitch Markers to marke out the pattern repeats and a unique marker for beginning of the round.
• Gauge – Approx 6.5 sts/inch in stockinette after gentle blocking.
• Size – Medium (Large) finished hat circumference approximately 47cm / 18.5 inches (50cm/20 inches)
I would recommend choosing a yarn with plenty of bounce to it rather than a less stretchy yarn, as the end result of the hat is pretty stretchy, and a yarn without much bounce will not work well with the sizing.
Techniques & Special Stitches Used:
K2tog - Knit 2 stitches together (1 stitch decrease)
SSK - Slip 2 stitches knitwise one at a time & knit together
through the back loop (1 stitch decrease)
K3tog - Knit 3 stitches together (2 stitch decrease)
SK2P - Slip 1 stitch Purlwise, Knit the next two stitches
together, pass slipped stitch over (2 stitch decrease)
The pattern instructions are both fully written out and charted.
I hope you enjoy the pattern and if you have any questions then please let me know.
