Vedett
Vedett is my new favorite summer beer, so it seems only fitting to name my new fave sweater after it, yes?
$500 of the profit on this sweater will go to Everytown.org to help in the effort to enact gun control in the US.
Vedett is all about texture and cables, worked in a soft and squishy yarn that’s just a pleasure to wear against your skin. Gorgeous stitch definition, the subtlest halo, and a little drape are perfect here. The fit of the sweater is meant to be roomy and easy, so you can slip it on over almost anything you want when the sun goes down, and probably keep slipping it on into Fall and Winter.
I wanted to play with a combination of intricate and simple patterning, so I intentionally chose motifs that would could play off one another in a bold manner. Each motif features a distinct geometry, and both are quite simple to work. I also made sure that the more involved of the two patterns is worked in the round, so it’s very easy to see those lines as you go!
However, it’s the transition from texture to cable that GETS me on this pattern - that row of Vs works out so beautifully, and makes such a cool line between the two patterns, right?
The sweater is worked from the bottom up in the round, and the body is separated into front and back at armholes, then worked flat to shoulders. Sleeves and collar are picked up and worked in the round to end, and there are notes throughout the pattern on modifying if desired.
Pattern instructions are both charted and written.

Shown knit in Linen Quill Worsted, in the Pale Oats colorway.
If substituting, I suggest a wool or wool blend worsted weight yarn. A solid, semi-solid, tweed or heather with good stitch definition is perfect. A subtle speckle might also be beautiful here. I do not suggest yarns with pronounced texture or variegation, as you will lose the detail in the pattern.
Gauge may vary with substitute yarns, so read notes and swatch in BOTH motifs to be sure your gauge in texture and cable will work visually and closely matches one another.
