Twisted Heart Blanket
Welcome to this Twisted Heart pattern. I wanted to make a pretty and bright baby blanket using lots of colours and textures. I came across many variations of this style of blanket and have worked to create these cute and vibrant hearts. The blanket has a lovely feel and with each stitch being clearly defined. I hope you enjoy working on these blankets as much as I have loved it!
I am naming the stitch I am using as an Extended Offset Bead Stitch. This is similar to a standard bead stitch with additional wraps of yarn, with the look of a bullion stitch with fewer wraps of yarn.
The stitches are slightly different to the ones you may have seen previously so please work through the tutorial and practice pieces before working on the main blanket.
This pattern contains the following:
• Tutorial for the special stitches used
• Tutorial for the border
• Tutorial for using charts in this pattern
• Practice Pattern 1
• Practice Pattern 2 (mini Heart)
• Full Blanket Pattern (twisted heart)
I have included a full page chart in both colour and in grey and white at the end of this pattern for your use
I did this pattern using 6 different colours for a rainbow heart and used less than 1 x 100g ball of DK yarn.
Yarn and equipment:
• 4 x 100g balls of DK yarn/1200m of DK yarn in white (or your chosen base colour)
• 1 partial x 100g ball of DK yarn per colour used in the pattern (I used 6 different colours)
• 4-4.5mm hook (I used 4.5mm as my natural tension is fairly tight)
• Stitch markers
• Scissors
• Tapestry needle for weaving in the loose ends
You can use whatever yarn/weight yarn that you like, complete the tutorial piece to get the drape of your choice with the hook you are using
