Tusk
A quick and easy one-skein shawl that’s a great stashbusting project.
During an exceptionally low tide at West Mersea on the Essex coast one early morning in March 2017, a team from CITiZAN (the Coastal and Intertidal Zone Archaeological Network) found a six-foot long mammoth tusk embedded in the mud. Scientists believe mammoths became extinct in Britain around 10,000 years ago.
It’s a crescent shape, knitted from point to point. Those little pleats create the curve and turn Tusk into a crescent shawl. I’ve included step-by-step photos in the pattern so the pleats shouldn’t put anyone off knitting what is actually a very easy and fast growing design.
Even better, Tusk is a one skein project that uses 400m of 4ply yarn. It’s knitted in Mr. B Hiddlestone 4ply which comes in 100g skeins of 425m, which gives you a bit of wriggle room in case your gauge is looser than mine.
