Toy car
These make a great first car toy for little children who aren’t old enough for metal toys.
If the child is old enough (or if you’re knitting for an adult car-lover!) you can use buttons for the wheels and headlights to make it more grown-up. There are notes on how to adapt the pattern to do this.
Size: About 13cm (5in) long
Difficulty: Advanced. Uses mid-row colour-changing. Fair Isle technique is not essential, but there is one section where you will need to use intarsia technique. The pattern explains how to do this.
Stitches used: kfb, k2tog, p2tog, sl1p
You will need:
• Wool in green, black, cream, dark grey and light grey, no more than 25g of any colour. I used Double Knit (8-6 ply, “light worsted”.) Tension: 10cm x 10cm square is 24 stitches across and 32 rows.
• Knitting needles. I used 3.0mm.
• Tapestry needle
• Stuffing
